Invento Spirit
December 3-8, 2024 | Alcova Miami | Miami River Inn 437 S 2nd Street B201 Miami, FL
‘Invento Spirit’ showcases the essence of ‘invento’ - the Cuban lifestyle of ingenious improvisation and adaptive creativity with a show of contemporary works in response. The exhibition, curated by Cuban designer Danni Friedman and Ladies & Gentlemen Studio’s Jean Lee features the results of the Havana Design Workshop 2018 alongside a curation of analogous works by 20 international and Cuban creatives. The multi-faceted curation centers around the term 'Invento', which in Cuban culture refers to a spontaneous, resourceful solution created from limited materials to meet an immediate need. For a related primer—you can read more about Ernesto Orozoa’s Technological Disobedience.
banana leaf seat, a stool composed of leftover banana leaves and stained wood, draws from the materiality and process of making bánh chưng and will be featured among some talented designers with pieces that embody the Invento mindset
